My First Sweater Class

Saturday 6 October:11:00 AM - 1:00 PM; Sunday 7 October, Saturday 21 October, Sundays 11 November, 2 & 9 December 2007: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Skill Level: Intermediate
(ability to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and bind off)

Here's the perfect opportunity to embark on your first handknitted simple pullover with either a "v" or crewneck, under the guidance of a patient expert.

1. 11 - 1 PM Saturday 6 October: Select yarn, discuss swatching & gauge, review pattern. Go home and knit swatches for next class meeting.
2. 11 - 3 PM Sunday 7 October: Cast on, start back of sweater.
3. 11 - 3 PM Saturday 21 October: Have back finished before class; knit back neck shaping, start front of sweater.
4. 11 - 3 PM Sunday 11 November: Before class, have front finished to beginning of neck. Knit neck shaping in class, put front and back together, knit neck trim, start sleeves.
5. 11 - 3 PM Sunday 2 December: Before class, have sleeves finished to beginning of cap; sleeve cap shaping in class.
6. 11 - 3 PM Sunday 9 December: Have all pieces finished before class. Seaming and setting in the sleeves in class.

Materials (most available at The Grove)

• Yarn of your choice
• Straight knitting needles compatible with yarn choice
• 16" Circular needle 2 sizes smaller than main needle size
• Paper
• Pen/pencil
• Calculator
• Tape measure
• Darning needle (by the 4th class session)
• Stitch markers
• Straight pins or edge clips (for final class)
