Events & Workshops
- Basic Sock Sundays 4, 11 & 18 February: 11 AM - 1 PM $60 for 3 sessions
- In class number one, you will learn how to cast on on double needles and establish the rib pattern for the cuff. In class two, return with the cuff completed and learn how to turn the heel. In class three, return with the foot knitted to the beginning of the toe and learn how to complete the toe. (Instructor David Kraft) Materials: Sock yarn and double-pointed needles in the gauge recommended by the yarn manufacturer. Skill Level: Intermediate
- Beginner's Scarf Saturdays 17 & 24 February: 1 - 3:30 PM OR Wednesdays 21 & 28 February: 6:30 - 9 PM $40 for 2 sessions
- If you haven't learned yet, it's time! We'll teach you to cast on and knit during Part One. Part Two: return to complete your scarf and fringe it if you wish. Wear it home! - Melody Hufford will teach this popular class on crocheting decorative peonies, daisies, and roses with your stash and scrap yarn. - Granny Squares Saturday 17 February: 1 - 4 PM $25
- What goes around comes around -- even squares! Use granny squares as the building blocks for your next project, whether it's a scarf, throw or poncho. - Pilates for Knitters Thursday 1 February: 7 - 8 PM $10
- Lorie Ruskin, a highly skilled knitter and phenomenal Pilates instructor will apply Pilates principles to the art of knitting. We'll be doing most of the exercises sitting down (so no need to wear workout clothes or bring mats). You will not sweat, either! Lorie will help us loosen our shoulders, neck and upper back for knitting, locate abdominal muscles to help support our bodies while knitting, and how to have a knitting posture that does not create muscle tension in our neck shoulders and back. We have only 12 seats available and pre-registration is required. So do call soon!
Sock Monkey Hat Sundays 11 & 18 February: 1 - 3
PM $40 for 2 sessions- From the irresistible pattern at Knitty.com, learn to make this whimsical hat from bulky yarn. Good introduction to intarsia knitting and color work. Materials: Bulky yarn in amounts specified in pattern with compatible needles, two buttons for the eyes, tapestry needle, sewing needle, tape measure, calculator, scissors, and paper & pencil. - Sweater Design Saturdays 3 & 10 February: 1 - 3 PM $40 for 2 sessions
- Dave Kraft will teach design basics in this two-session class. This is for experienced knitters who want to learn how to do the math required for custom fitting. The first class will focus on preliminaries and the second class will focus on setting in sleeves. The class pattern used for instructional purposes will be a crew or v-neck sweater. (In March, we will be offering a full workshop for those wishing to begin and complete a sweater in a 5-session class.) Materials: 4" x 4" stockinette stitch swatch with garter rib border in a yarn of your choice; and a garmet that fits you just the way you like it. (Instructor David Kraft) Level: Experienced
Valery Hat Sunday 4 February: 1 - 4
PM $30- Several of our customers undergoing chemotherapy have requested a hat pattern that has a thick brim so they don't look like they've lost their hair. This is it! And it's oh-so-comfortable and warm! We'll be knitting the cover hat of Hip Knit Hats with reverse stockinette stripes and learning how to knit from the top down by using a figure 8 cast-on and increasing by making stitches. According to Susan, this is the best hat pattern book ever written. Receive a 10% discount on the book (a must-have in any serious knitter's library) when you register for class. Class Cancellation Policy
No Exceptions
In the event The Grove must cancel a class due to lack of participants, The Grove will issue a full refund. Participants who are unable to attend as planned must notify The Grove within five (5) days of the class in order to receive a refund, otherwise the class fee is forfeited. Fees cannot be applied to future classes.
