Grove knitters have been abuzz about Eunny Jang's Deep V Argyle Vest pattern (available for purchase at www.EunnyJang.com/knit) but are understandably daunted by the stranded color knitting and steek finishing. We are lucky enough to have David Kraft, one of the few teachers in San Diego capable of teaching this advanced class, to guide you through this amazing project. This opportunity doesn't present itself often, so take advantage of it! Skill Level: Advanced
  1. First Session: September 9: 11 - 3pm Material selection, pattern review, custom sizing & swatching
  2. Second Session: September 23: 2 - 6pm Begin knitting vest and establishing pattern.
  3. Third Session: October 14: 11 - 3pm Steek V-neck.
  4. Fourth Session: November 4: 11 - 3pm Place armhole steeks.
  5. Fifth Session: December 2: 11 - 3pm Cut steeks & seam. Wear vest home!

The knitted cupcakes with embellished "frosting" tops from the recently released book One Skein are TOO CUTE!!! Join Susan Wells for a knit-along as we create these pincushions while eating real cupcakes and sipping herbal tea!!! Don't wait long to pre-register because this class is bound to fill quickly. Materials available for purchase: #5 & 9 double pointed needles, tapestry needle, sewing needle (for attaching embellishments), dk-weight yarn for base and fuzzy yarn for frosting, and copy of One Skein by Leigh Radford (book 15% off for class participants). Beginner's Scarf Class Saturdays September 16 & 23: 11 - 1:30 pm OR Wednesdays September 20 & 27: 6:30-9pm $40 for two class sessions
If you haven't learned yet, it's time! We'll teach you to cast on and knit during Part One. Part Two: return to complete your scarf and fringe it if you wish. Wear it home! Get Hooked Sunday September 17: 1 - 4pm $25
If you've never picked up a hook before, or think that crocheting is making a really really really long chain, then this class is for you! Learn the basics -- from making a foundation chain to simple crochet stitches. We will work on a sampler washcloth in this class, and there will be a free pattern for a simple scarf for you to take home to continue to practice. (Instructor Melody Hufford) Materials available for purchase: light-colored, worsted weight yarn, crochet hook size F, G or H. Bring tape measure, paper & pencil. Skill Level: Beginner
Spiral Bracelet Class Sunday September 24: 1 - 5pm $45 + $25 materials
Make a sterling silver or copper bracelet using basic wire wrapping techniques. Tools will be provided for use during the class. (Instructors Bea & Carol) Level: Easy (Prerequisite: basic knowledge of the use of hand tools.)
Feather & FanIntroduction to Lace Sunday September 24: 11 - 3pm $25
Learn the beautiful yet simple Fan & Feather stitch composed of three rows of stockinette stitch and only one row of pattern. With lace weight yarn, make a fine scarf; choose an Aran or worsted weight to make a lovely shawl; or select a bulky weight and make a beautiful afghan. (Instructor David Kraft) Materials available for purchase: yarn of your choice and needles recommended by manufacturer to obtain proper gauge. Skill Level: Intermediate; must know how to knit and purl and follow a basic pattern.

Class Cancellation Policy -- No Exceptions

In the event the Grove needs to cancel a class due to lack of participants, the Grove will issue a full refund. Participants who are unable to attend as planned must notify the Grove within five days of the class in order to receive a refund. Otherwise the class fee is forfeited. Fees cannot be applied to future classes.
